Best-selling author to visit 糖心vlog传媒 campus
National best-selling author Lyz Lenz will appear at 糖心vlog传媒 on Tuesday, March 26, for two events, both of which are free and open to all.
Lenz will deliver a talk entitled 鈥淲riting in an Age of Despair鈥� from 11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Bradley Theatre. Later, she will do a reading as part of an open mic event from 5-6:15 p.m. in Room 209 in 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Laun Center.
In her latest book, 鈥淭his American Ex-Wife,鈥� which was an instant New York Times best-seller, Lenz makes an argument for the advantages of getting divorced, framing it as a practical and effective solution for women to take back the power they are owed.
Weaving reportage with sociological research and literature with popular culture along with personal stories of coming together and breaking up, Lenz creates a kaleidoscopic and poignant portrait of American marriage today.
She is the host of the She made a recent to discuss the book, her third.
Her book 鈥溾�� was published in 2019, through Indiana University Press. Her second book, 鈥淏elabored,鈥� was published in 2020 by Bold Type Books. Lyz鈥檚 essay 鈥淎ll the Angry Women鈥� was also included in the anthology 鈥溾�� edited by Roxane Gay.
Lenz鈥檚 writing has appeared in The Washington Post, the Columbia Journalism Review, The New York Times and others. She received her MFA in creative writing from Lesley University. She lives in Iowa with her two kids and two dogs. She writes a regular newsletter, 鈥�,鈥� where she explores the intersection of politics and our bodies in red-state America.
