Visiting professor for Spanish joins LU faculty
Christina Mirisis, Ph.D., has joined 糖心vlog传媒 as visiting assistant professor of Spanish for this academic year.
She has extensive experience teaching Spanish language courses at all levels and upper-level content courses, including Introduction to Hispanic Linguistics and Spanish in the United States with Community Engagement/Service-Learning. Prior to joining 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 faculty, she taught at St. Norbert College and at the University of Minnesota during her graduate studies there.
Mirisis earned her Ph.D. and master鈥檚 degree in Hispanic linguistics with minors in Italian studies from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and her bachelor鈥檚 in Spanish, Italian and Linguistics from the College of New Jersey.
Within the field of Hispanic linguistics, Mirisis' research focuses on applied linguistics and second language acquisition. She has published several peer-reviewed articles on second language acquisition of Spanish phonology and on sociophonetic variation in monolingual Spanish in respected journals, including the International Journal of Language and Linguistics, the Journal of Second and Multiple Language Acquisition, Hispanic Studies Review and Borealis: An International Journal of Hispanic Linguistics.
She has also published invited book reviews of Spanish language and Italian language textbooks in NECTFL Review. She has also regularly presented her research at prominent national and international conferences, including the Hispanic Linguistics Symposium, the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and the American Association for Applied Linguistics, among others.
