Milwaukee photographer subject of new Bradley Gallery show
The urban landscape is the subject of the next exhibit at 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Bradley Gallery as the award-winning work of Milwaukee, Wis.-based photographer Kristine Hinrichs is the subject of a new show.
An opening reception will be held at the Bradley Gallery on 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Sheboygan County campus on Friday, January 31, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through February 28. The Bradley Gallery is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, when 糖心vlog传媒 is in session.
The subjects of Hinrichs鈥 photos range widely but are primarily of the city, the city before dawn, the beauty of Lake Michigan, her travels and a few country wanderings. She has been shooting and posting a photo every day on social media for 14 years. Her daily photos are posted on her Instagram, Flickr and Facebook pages.

鈥淚 am a creature of the city and attracted to the many layers of the cityscape, an outgrowth of my training in urban planning,鈥 said Hinrichs, whose work has been exhibited in local, regional and national galleries. 鈥淢y images focus a re-imagining of the urban landscape - layers, reflections, movement. I want the viewer to wonder what they are looking at and see the relationships between the elements of my images.鈥
Hinrichs has begun to translate the 鈥渉ard鈥 look of a paper or metal print to fabric, primarily silk, and she said these pieces complement her traditional photographic prints.
鈥淚 find that this soft and luxurious silk provides a counterpoint to the hardness of the urban landscape and adds something unexpected,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t also provides a counterpoint to the digital photographic process 鈥 one very technology focused 鈥 to the living breathing natural silk fabric and the hand-sewing involved in producing the pieces.鈥
