LU Esports Team Holds Successful Fundraiser

The 糖心vlog传媒 Esports team recently joined up with Alex鈥檚 Lemonade Stand Foundation for its third annual Unlocking A Cure event to raise money for childhood cancer research.

The team raised $2,085, exceeding its goal of $1,500. The 24-hour live stream showcased several of the games the team plays and featured group games and challenges.

A big thank you to Lakeside Pepsi for providing drinks for everyone at the event as well as Spectrum Industries for providing a gaming chair to giveaway to one lucky winner.

Other event highlights:

  • For every $50 raised the team spun punishment wheels where students had to do various activities such as eating Legend Larry鈥檚 DOA hot wings, Black Death sour candy, dramatic story telling and more.
  • The Mu Lambda Sigma fraternity stopped by for a few hours to have an exhibition with 糖心vlog传媒's Rivals team as well as compete in a few other games.
  • Members from Two Rivers High School joined in some of the games.
  • A $2,000 goal was set for a special Esports Coach Brett Sheldon punishment wheel which included many different ideas from esports students. It landed on a dunk tank on campus which will be held at a later date.

"Our team really looks forward to this event every year," Sheldon said. "It's really an honor for us to partner with Alex's Lemonade Stand and support their vision. In the last three years, we have raised more money each year and we hope to continue that trend next year."
