This issue of Green Humanities is themed around water, so each on her poems is in some way inspired by water.

鈥溾楲ooking Back鈥 features a well-known sight to anyone in Sheboygan, the red lighthouse on North Pier,鈥 Wattenberg said. 鈥淚 wrote 鈥楽evere Weather Alert鈥 after receiving a text alert about dangerous waves on Lake Michigan and a particularly frustrating visit to the doctor. Collectively, the poems consider what water reveals to us about different ways of seeing and paying attention.鈥

One poem was written about the library at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) during her 2024 artist residency. UMBS sharing the poem and the library's history.
